September 24, 2021
Manipur Day is celebrated on the final day of the Hindu
month of Makar Sankranti. It is celebrated on the occasion of Makar Sankranti
(armed battle) by the forces of the Garhwal division of the Indian Army. The
origin of the name is disputed, however the celebrations are centred on the
true story of the Battle of Makar Sankranti. The battle took place in the 17th
century and was a significant turning point in the history of modem India.
There were considerable civil conflicts that took place in the course of the
Battle.
The significance of the satta or the gift of flowers by the Indian forces to the Pakistan Army following the Battle of Makar Sankranti was a great turning point in the history of India. This was a time when the saffron thread embroidered shawls were first worn by the Indians for adornment of the Rajputs and the Nawabs. The saffron threads used in these ceremonies were specially selected from the silver threads used for decoration of the various dignitaries of the Delhi court and the palace.
Today the saffron threads are still used in the
traditional form to decorate the sarees, saris and other apparels meant for
daily use. However the saffron strands or the garlands are also widely used on
the auspicious occasions like Manipur Day. You can buy every day saffron gifts
like manipur satta mats online in different styles and designs. You can choose
a gifting idea that suits your budget and taste.
All the Indian citizens love to wear sari and other
apparels that can enhance their personality and add color and elegance to their
life. Some of the individuals like to sport a unique style and fashion
statement. They like to flaunt their sensual and refined looks at various
social gatherings. There are many reasons why every person love to wear satta
matka on their auspicious occasions like on the auspicious occasion of'Nepal
Sankranti' or the auspicious occasion when you return back to India after
working in foreign countries like USA, Canada, UK, etc.
The satta matka is actually a costume that has a great
history. It is believed that the origin of the satta king dates back to 200
years back. The costume is said to have been invented by the Brahmins in South
India. According to the myth, the Brahmins would spend a lot of time playing
satta matka in the forests of Nepal. The idea of this king's costume spread
gradually to the people of other states like Gujarat and Punjab, where the
saffron strands were used on the sandals of the royal couple on their way to
the wedding.
The satta matka game has its own following all over the
world. On the first day of August, it has become very popular all over India as
well as abroad and the players go all out in getting the maximum number of
winning games. It is very common to see the players in the customary attire of
the state while playing the game. The winner is also declared on the day of
Manipur Day.
